AGA Cooktop Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords
We are independent and have no tie to AGA. If the cooktop is still inside its AGA warranty, the manufacturer should be your first call. Once that coverage has ended, include the model number and the symptom in your booking so parts can be looked up ahead of the visit.
How a Cooktop Repair Visit Works

Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work

Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
How AGA designs its cooktops
On a cast-iron AGA, the boiling and simmering hotplates draw from the same stored heat as the ovens, and their insulated lids keep that heat in when not in use. A hotplate that loses heat quickly under a pan usually means the cooker's overall temperature is low or the lid lining is worn. Electric models with independent hotplate elements can lose a single element. On AGA Elise and Mercury ranges, the cooktop is a conventional gas or induction surface, so problems are ignition, spark switches or induction boards. We check hotplate temperatures, lid condition and heat source on cast-iron models, and ignition or board function on ranges.
Common failure points on AGA cooktops
- Hotplate slow to recover
- Lid lining worn
- Hotplate element failed
- Burner ignition not sparking
- Induction zone not detecting pan

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
Some drop is normal, as the plate gives up stored heat. A fast drop suggests the cooker is running cool or a lid lining is worn. We check both.
