Who we are and when these terms apply
TrueFix Virginia is a name used by TrueFix Virginia, referred to below as “we” or “us”. We fix household and light-commercial appliances on site in part of Northern Virginia. No manufacturer has appointed us as its service center; we work independently of every brand.
By browsing this site or booking a visit, you accept the terms on this page. If you would rather not accept them, please do not submit a booking through the website.
Booking and the visit itself
- When we confirm your appointment we give you a time window. Treat it as our best estimate. Road conditions, storms and a previous job running long can all shift it, and we will contact you when that happens.
- Someone aged 18 or older who can say yes or no to the repair needs to be present for the visit.
- Please make sure we can reach the appliance. In a condo or apartment building that may mean reserving the elevator, registering us with the front desk or arranging a parking spot; in a townhouse, clearing the path to an upstairs laundry closet. Tell us about any building rules when you book.
- Need to cancel or move the appointment? Let us know as soon as your plans change.
- The technician can decline to begin, or can stop, when conditions are unsafe: a smell of gas, water on the floor around live wiring, damaged electrical connections, or an appliance wedged where it cannot be pulled out safely.
How the price is agreed
The technician checks the appliance where it stands, explains the failure and prices the repair. Whether to proceed is your call. Nothing is repaired until you have approved that price, and turning the quote down is entirely up to you. If fixing an older or worn machine isn't worth the money, we will say that plainly.
Sometimes a second problem only shows up after a panel comes off. If that happens, we pause and get your go-ahead before doing anything beyond the work you already approved.
Replacement parts
- We choose parts by the appliance's model number. Where the manufacturer's own part can be bought, that is what we install; where we use an equivalent, we tell you.
- When a part has to come from a supplier, we mention it before you approve the repair, along with whatever delivery estimate the supplier has given us. We cannot control supplier back-orders or shipping delays.
- We take away and dispose of the parts we remove. If you want to keep an old part, say so before the repair begins.
Paying for the work
Unless we have agreed other arrangements in writing, payment is due once the approved repair is finished. The methods of payment we accept are given to you when the appointment is confirmed.
Warranty
90 days on parts and 30 days on labor
Any warranty we give is limited to the repair we carried out and the parts we installed. Other faults in the same machine are outside it, as is damage caused by misuse, electrical surges, frozen or burst lines, flooding, or someone else working on the appliance after our visit. A machine that is still under its manufacturer's warranty should be taken up with the manufacturer first, because that coverage is separate from anything we offer.
Limits on our liability
Except where the law says otherwise, we accept no liability for:
- corrosion, wear or earlier damage unconnected to the repair we made;
- spoiled food, medication or other contents lost because the appliance failed before our visit;
- indirect, special, incidental or consequential loss.
These terms do not take away any protection you have under the Virginia Consumer Protection Act or other Virginia or federal law that the law does not allow a business to exclude.
Where we take bookings
We accept jobs only in the following areas:
- Fairfax County: Fairfax & Vienna; Falls Church; Springfield; Reston.
- Arlington County: Arlington.
- City of Alexandria: Alexandria.
- Loudoun County: Ashburn.
Using this website
Our guides and blog posts give general background. None of them diagnoses your particular machine or amounts to a price, and we can edit or remove them whenever we choose. Gas connections, live electrical components and sealed refrigeration systems are jobs for a qualified person, not a do-it-yourself project. We own the words and pictures on this site; copying them for commercial purposes needs our written permission.
Text messages
If you agreed to receive texts from us, our SMS Terms apply as well. You can end them whenever you like by replying STOP.
Governing law and venue
The laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia govern these terms and any disagreement arising from them or from our work, without regard to rules that would point to another state's law. A dispute will be heard in the general district court or circuit court for the Virginia city or county where the work was done, or, where the matter belongs in federal court, in the federal court for the Eastern District of Virginia. This does not remove any right the law gives you to bring a claim in a different court.
Changes and contact
These terms can change. A job is governed by the version posted here on the day you booked it. For questions, reach us at:
