LG Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords

LG Electronics is a South Korean company whose home appliances lean heavily on electronics: inverter motors, sensor-driven cycles and a display that reports faults as short codes. That helps a diagnosis, because the code narrows the search, but it also means a problem can sit in a sensor or harness rather than the part everyone suspects. We repair LG equipment independently and aren't part of LG's authorized service network. If yours is still inside LG's coverage, contact LG before anyone else, and on refrigerators read the paperwork closely, since LG has covered some compressors longer than the rest of the unit. Otherwise we diagnose in your home and quote before any work.

Stacked & closet laundry
Townhouses and condos often put a stacked washer-dryer in an upstairs closet, so a small drip can end up staining the room underneath. Tell us where the machines sit.
Condo & high-rise rules
Many managed buildings ask for a certificate of insurance, a reserved freight elevator or set work hours. Check with yours and pass the rules along when you book.
Parking & access
Visitor spaces, garage clearance, gate codes and front-desk sign-in all shape a visit. Mention them at booking so nothing holds up the diagnosis.
Rentals & landlords
A tenant can book the visit. We report the fault and the price to the owner or property manager, who signs off before any work starts.
Garages, heat & humidity
A garage fridge or freezer can struggle through a hot, humid summer or a hard cold snap without any part failing. Check the temperature range in its manual.
Straight answers
When an older appliance isn't worth repairing, we say so and explain exactly which part failed.

How a Repair Visit Works

01

Tell Us What's Wrong

Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.

02

Diagnosis at Your Home

The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.

03

A Price Before Work

We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.

04

Repair and Check

The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.

LG

A Korean company built around motors and electronics

LG made its name in laundry with the direct-drive motor: a stator fixed to the rear of the outer tub and a rotor mounted on the drum shaft, with no belt or transmission between them. Its refrigerators added inverter and linear compressors, and its dishwashers use a direct-drive wash motor. LG also assembles washers at a plant in Clarksville, Tennessee.

The upshot for repair is that many LG faults are electrical and measurable. A rotor position sensor, a door lock switch or a thermistor can shut down a machine that is mechanically sound.

Stacked units, condos and open kitchens

LG's compact and stacked laundry, including the WashTower, fits the closets found in Metro-corridor condos and many townhouses. Front-loaders on an upper floor make vibration and door-boot leaks more noticeable, and drain hoses running into a shared standpipe can siphon or back up.

In kitchens, LG's stainless French-door and InstaView refrigerators and slide-in ranges show up in newer construction and in plenty of remodels of older colonials. In a condo building, a visit may need a service elevator or management sign-off, which is worth checking with the building before the appointment.

Reading the codes without trusting them blindly

An LG code tells you which system tripped, not always which part failed. OE on a washer means it couldn't drain, which could be a sock in the pump, a kinked hose or a failed pump. d80, d90 or d95 on a dryer means the Flow Sense system sees restricted exhaust, and the fix is almost always in the duct, not the dryer.

We treat each code as a starting point and test the parts behind it, which avoids replacing a board for what turns out to be lint.

Checking coverage before paying for a big part

Before we quote an LG compressor, inverter board or washer motor, it's worth confirming whether LG's parts coverage for that component still applies to your model. We'll point you to the right paperwork. If the part is covered, labor terms vary, and LG's own service decides how that claim is handled.

LG products we see

  • Refrigerators: French-door, InstaView, side-by-side, bottom- and top-freezer models, many with linear or inverter compressors. Ice maker faults, frosted evaporators, fan motors and compressor issues are common.
  • Washers: Direct-drive front-loaders, agitator and impeller top-loaders, and WashTower stacks. Drain faults, door locks, rotor sensors, bearings, inlet valves and control codes lead the list.
  • Dryers: Gas, electric and heat pump dryers, including WashTower units with Flow Sense. Duct restriction codes, thermistors, heating elements, gas coils, rollers and belts are typical.
  • Dishwashers: QuadWash and standard tall-tub models with a direct-drive wash motor and in some cases TrueSteam. Leak, drain, fill and heater codes plus door latch faults drive most calls.
  • Ovens: LG range ovens and wall ovens with ProBake convection and EasyClean. Sensor faults, element failures, door locks, convection motors and touch control problems are common.
  • Microwaves: Over-the-range and countertop microwaves, some with convection or sensor cooking. No-heat faults, door switches, vent fans, turntable motors and touch panels are typical.
  • Freezers: Freezer sections of LG refrigerators and a few standalone units. Iced-over evaporators, fan motors, ice maker fans, defrost sensors and door seal leaks come up often.
  • Cooktops: Induction, radiant glass and gas cooktops. Induction power board faults, element or switch failures, cracked glass and igniter clicking are the usual work.
  • Stoves: Everyday LG stove trouble: a burner that won't light, an oven that shuts off mid-bake, a display that shows a code or a key that won't respond.
  • Ranges: Freestanding, front-control and slide-in ranges in gas, electric, induction and dual-fuel, including InstaView doors. Control boards, touch panels, igniters and convection parts fail most.

Parts for LG

LG sells parts through its own parts channel and through US appliance parts distributors. Because the same pumps, door locks and inlet valves are used across whole families of washers, laundry parts are rarely a problem to source. Refrigerator ice maker assemblies, inverter boards and cosmetic door parts can take longer. We order against the full model and serial number, note when LG has superseded a part with a revised version, and check whether manufacturer coverage might pick up a compressor or motor before you spend money on one.

FAQ

Common LG Questions

Brief answers to what customers most often ask us. Don't see yours? Ask when you call, or add it to the notes when you book online.

Still have a question?

Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.

They point to a system, not always a part. A drain code, for example, can come from a clog, a hose or the pump. We test the parts behind the code so you only pay for what actually failed.

Yes. LG has offered longer coverage on certain compressors than on the rest of the refrigerator. Check your registration or model information, because a covered part changes who should do the repair.

The washer and dryer in a WashTower share a frame and a control panel, but they are diagnosed separately. We work out which half has the fault, and whether reaching it means moving the whole unit out of the closet.
