Fisher & Paykel Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords

Fisher & Paykel appliances tend to be chosen on purpose: the double DishDrawer under an island, the integrated column fridge behind a cabinet panel, the professional-style range that carries on the old DCS design. We work on them as an independent repair company. We are not part of the Fisher & Paykel service network, so while the maker's warranty still applies, begin with Fisher & Paykel. After that, we come to the house, find what failed, and give you a quote you approve before we touch anything.

Stacked & closet laundry
Townhouses and condos often put a stacked washer-dryer in an upstairs closet, so a small drip can end up staining the room underneath. Tell us where the machines sit.
Condo & high-rise rules
Many managed buildings ask for a certificate of insurance, a reserved freight elevator or set work hours. Check with yours and pass the rules along when you book.
Parking & access
Visitor spaces, garage clearance, gate codes and front-desk sign-in all shape a visit. Mention them at booking so nothing holds up the diagnosis.
Rentals & landlords
A tenant can book the visit. We report the fault and the price to the owner or property manager, who signs off before any work starts.
Garages, heat & humidity
A garage fridge or freezer can struggle through a hot, humid summer or a hard cold snap without any part failing. Check the temperature range in its manual.
Straight answers
When an older appliance isn't worth repairing, we say so and explain exactly which part failed.

How a Repair Visit Works

01

Tell Us What's Wrong

Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.

02

Diagnosis at Your Home

The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.

03

A Price Before Work

We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.

04

Repair and Check

The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.

Fisher & Paykel

From Auckland to the Haier family

The company began in New Zealand and still designs much of its range there. Haier became the full owner in 2012, and Fisher & Paykel now sits alongside GE Appliances inside the same parent, although the two brands keep separate engineering and parts catalogs.

In 2004 Fisher & Paykel bought DCS, the California maker of professional-style ranges and grills. That purchase explains why many of its ranges and rangetops look and behave like DCS products, and why some burner and valve parts cross over between the two names.

The DishDrawer is its own animal

No other mainstream dishwasher works like a DishDrawer. Each drawer is a small independent washer with its own pump, controls and lid that lowers onto the tub when a cycle starts. Water and power reach the moving drawer through a flexible harness and hose that fold every time it opens.

That design means a double unit can fail one drawer at a time, and it means a fault code is tied to a specific drawer. The F codes are useful, but a lid that won't seal, a harness worn at the fold and a blocked filter can all look alike from the front.

Panel-ready kitchens and tight laundry spaces

In Northern Virginia the brand turns up most in kitchens that were redone with cabinetry in mind: integrated refrigerators and dishwashers hidden behind wood fronts in a remodeled rambler, or a DishDrawer pair in a Reston condo where a full-size tub would crowd the galley. Panel-ready units need the panel handled carefully during a repair, and we plan for that.

Fisher & Paykel laundry is less common, but the 27-inch front-load pairs fit the upstairs closets many townhouses have. When a washer lives above a finished room, a slow leak matters more than it would on a basement slab.

Getting parts to a Fisher & Paykel

Parts come through Fisher & Paykel's own North American supply and a handful of distributors. Common DishDrawer items such as lid seals and filters are usually easy to get; control boards, motor assemblies and parts for integrated refrigerators may ship from further away. We read the model and serial number off the unit, check availability before you commit, and tell you plainly when a part would be an equivalent rather than the maker's own.

Fisher & Paykel products we see

  • Refrigerators: ActiveSmart French-door and bottom-mount models, plus integrated column and panel-ready refrigerators. Defrost faults, fan motors, sensors, ice makers and door alignment account for most visits.
  • Washers: 27-inch front-load washers, and older top-load models with the direct-drive SmartDrive motor. Drain pumps, door locks, motor sensors and suspension parts come up most.
  • Dryers: 27-inch vented electric and gas dryers built to pair with the front-load washer. Heating elements, thermal fuses, gas ignition, belts and moisture sensing are the usual work.
  • Dishwashers: Single and double DishDrawer models, integrated and panel-ready, plus conventional built-in dishwashers. Lid seals, filters, drain faults, harness wear and fill valves lead the list.
  • Ovens: Single, double and combination wall ovens, including steam and speed-oven models. Door locks, cooling fans, elements, temperature sensors and steam system faults are typical.
  • Microwaves: Microwave drawers, built-in convection microwaves and combination speed ovens. Drawer drive motors, door switches, magnetrons, touch panels and convection parts are what we replace.
  • Freezers: Freezer drawers on ActiveSmart models, integrated column freezers and ice makers. Defrost heaters, fan motors, drawer runners, inlet valves and frozen fill tubes come up often.
  • Cooktops: Gas, induction and radiant cooktops, including DCS-derived professional gas models. Spark switches, electrodes, induction boards, cooling fans and touch panels fail most.
  • Stoves: Freestanding and slide-in cookers that owners call the stove, gas, electric and induction. Oven igniters, bake elements, burner valves, sensors and displays are routine repairs.
  • Ranges: Professional-style 30-, 36- and 48-inch ranges in gas and dual fuel, many with DCS heritage. Reignition modules, oven igniters, convection fans and controls are the common faults.

Parts for Fisher & Paykel

Every Fisher & Paykel part we order is keyed to the model and serial number, since the brand revises assemblies often and two drawers that look identical can take different boards. DishDrawer seals, filters and fill valves are usually stocked; refrigerator controls, integrated-unit hardware and DCS-derived range parts can take longer. You'll hear the expected wait during the diagnosis, and whether the part is original or an equivalent, before you approve the job.

FAQ

Common Fisher & Paykel Questions

Brief answers to what customers most often ask us. Don't see yours? Ask when you call, or add it to the notes when you book online.

Still have a question?

Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.

Haier, which bought out the remaining shareholders in 2012. Design work still happens largely in New Zealand, and the brand keeps its own parts numbers even though GE Appliances has the same parent.

No. Each drawer has its own pump, controls and seal, so a fault in one usually leaves the other working. We diagnose just the drawer that stopped and price only that drawer.

Usually yes. Integrated refrigerators and panel-ready dishwashers are built to be serviced with the panel in place or removed and refitted. We take care with the panel and hardware and put it back aligned.

Call Fisher & Paykel. We are independent and not authorized by the brand, so covered repairs belong with them. Once the warranty period is over, we can take the job.
