Thermador Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords
Thermador tends to arrive as a suite: a Pro Grand or Pro Harmony range, a pair of Freedom columns, a dishwasher behind a matching panel, sometimes a wine column. We repair all of it as an independent company. We are not a Thermador authorized servicer, so while the maker's warranty still covers the appliance, contact Thermador first. After that, we diagnose it on site, explain the failure and quote a repair you approve before work begins.
How a Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.

Thermador Products We Service
A California name under German ownership
Thermador was founded in Los Angeles in 1916 and is credited with the first built-in wall oven in 1947. BSH, the Bosch Group's appliance maker, bought the brand in 1998. Today Thermador sits above Bosch in the BSH lineup, alongside Gaggenau.
Shared ownership shows up in the repair work. Thermador dishwashers are built on the same platform as upper Bosch models and use similar fault codes, and a number of smaller parts are common across BSH brands.
What the Star burner and ExtraLow change
The five-pointed Star burner spreads flame over a longer perimeter than a round burner, and the gas ranges advertise 18,000 BTU on Pro Harmony and 22,000 on Pro Grand. ExtraLow burners reach very low heat by cycling the flame off and on under electronic control, then relighting it.
That cycling depends on a working spark and reignition system. When a spark electrode, switch or module starts to fail, an ExtraLow burner is often the first to act up, going out and staying out or clicking long after the flame is lit.
Big kitchens, built-in columns
In Northern Virginia, Thermador turns up in the large kitchens of newer single-family homes around Ashburn and in custom renovations of older colonials further in. Freedom columns and panel-ready dishwashers are installed flush with cabinetry, so we allow time to protect panels and trim when a unit has to come out.
Professional ranges this size often sit under a powerful hood on a dedicated gas line. If a range needs to be pulled forward, we disconnect and reconnect it with care and check for leaks before leaving.
Thermador products we see
- Refrigerators: Freedom column refrigerators and Freedom French-door built-ins, often panel-ready. Sealed system diagnosis, defrost faults, fans, ice makers and door alignment are the main work.
- Dishwashers: Sapphire, Emerald and Topaz dishwashers on the BSH platform, including panel-ready models. Leak trips, drain faults, heat pump failures, hinges and latches account for most calls.
- Ovens: Masterpiece and Professional wall ovens, steam and convection ovens and speed ovens. Elements, convection and cooling fans, door locks and temperature sensors are the usual repairs.
- Microwaves: Built-in microwave drawers and speed ovens, often below a wall oven or in an island. Drawer drives, door switches, magnetrons, controls and convection parts are the usual repairs.
- Freezers: Freedom freezer columns and freezer sections of French-door built-ins. Ice makers, defrost heaters, evaporator fans, drawer slides and water valves come up most often.
- Cooktops: Star burner gas cooktops and rangetops, plus Freedom induction and other induction and electric models. Spark switches, electrodes, induction boards and fans fail most often.
- Wine Coolers: Freedom wine columns and undercounter wine reserves with two temperature zones. Thermistors, fans, door seals, controls and the refrigeration system are the typical faults.
- Stoves: Pro Grand and Pro Harmony ranges, the appliance owners usually call the stove. Oven igniters, Star burner spark parts, convection fans and oven sensors lead the repairs.
- Ranges: Pro Grand and Pro Harmony gas, dual-fuel and induction ranges from 30 to 60 inches, some with griddles. Reignition faults, igniters, fans, oven controls and door parts come up most.
Parts for Thermador
Thermador parts come through BSH's parts operation and a small number of distributors. Dishwasher parts and some cooktop spark parts are shared with Bosch and are usually available without much wait. Large range components, Freedom column controls and certain oven parts can take longer. We order by the E-Nr and FD numbers on the rating plate, check stock while we are at the range, and write any non-Thermador equivalent into the quote by name.

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
Thermador is owned by BSH, the Bosch Group's appliance company, which also makes Bosch and Gaggenau. It keeps its own designs, but some platforms and many parts are shared, especially in dishwashers.
In most cases, yes. The body, burners and oven cavity last a long time, and typical failures are spark parts, igniters, fans and controls. We check the overall condition and tell you if a repair doesn't make sense.
Go to Thermador first. We are independent and not a Thermador authorized servicer, so covered repairs belong with them. Once coverage ends, we can help.
Look on the oven frame with the door open, or behind the lower kick panel; the use and care manual shows the spot for your model. The plate lists the E-Nr and FD numbers we need to order parts.
