Frigidaire Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords
Frigidaire is the appliance that came with the apartment, the freezer in the garage and the range a landlord replaced without a second thought. We repair it as an independent company, outside the Electrolux service program. If your Frigidaire is still inside the manufacturer's warranty, start with Frigidaire. Otherwise, a technician tests it at your place, explains what went wrong and gives you a price to approve or decline, and we'll say so when a replacement is the better use of the money.
How a Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.

From General Motors to Electrolux
Frigidaire began as the Guardian Frigerator Company, which General Motors bought in 1918 and renamed a year later. GM kept it for six decades, then sold it in 1979 to White Consolidated Industries, and the Swedish company Electrolux bought WCI in 1986. Frigidaire has been Electrolux's main North American brand ever since, with Gallery and Professional above the base line.
Many Frigidaire refrigerators are built at Electrolux's plant in Anderson, South Carolina, and its ranges at the company's Springfield, Tennessee plant. That shared production is why a Frigidaire part often turns up in an Electrolux model too.
Rental kitchens and garage freezers
Property managers and landlords buy Frigidaire because it's affordable and parts are easy to get, so it's common in garden-style apartment complexes, rented townhouses and condos. Stacked laundry centers, with a top-load washer and a dryer in one tall frame, fit the closets in many older apartments.
In detached houses, the spare upright or chest freezer in the garage is very often a Frigidaire. Garage units deal with summer heat and the occasional winter cold snap, and some older models weren't designed for either.
The repairs that make sense
A Frigidaire costs less to replace than many brands, so each repair is weighed against a new unit. Igniters, valves, elements, defrost parts, fans, door locks and pumps are usually worth fixing. Sealed-system work on an aging fridge, or a gearcase on a laundry center that's seen many years, usually doesn't pay off.
When the numbers don't favor repair, we tell you before any money is spent on parts. For landlords with several identical units, that answer often applies to the whole group.
What a tenant can check before calling
A few Frigidaire problems have simple causes. A dishwasher showing i10 may have a half-closed supply valve under the sink, and one showing i20 may just need its filter cleaned. A freezer in a hot garage may be struggling with the room, not a failed part. A refrigerator that stops cooling after a power outage can have a tripped outlet.
If those checks don't help, note the model number and any code, and pass them along when you book. If you rent, check with your landlord or management office first about who arranges repairs.
Frigidaire products we see
- Refrigerators: Top-freezer, side-by-side, bottom-freezer and Gallery or Professional French-door models. Ice makers, defrost faults, evaporator fans, water valves and dirty condensers are the usual work.
- Washers: Top-load and front-load washers and the washer half of stacked laundry centers. Lid switches, door locks, drain pumps, suspension springs and bearings are frequent repairs.
- Dryers: Gas and electric dryers, plus the upper half of a stacked laundry center. No heat after a lint-choked vent, weak gas coils, broken belts and noisy rollers top the list.
- Dishwashers: Built-in Frigidaire and Gallery dishwashers with removable filters. i10, i20 and i30 codes, drain pumps, inlet valves, latches and wash motors cover most calls.
- Ovens: Wall ovens in single and double configurations, several offering air fry. Most visits end with a new bake element, temperature sensor, convection motor, lock assembly or control.
- Microwaves: Over-the-range, countertop and built-in microwaves. A unit that spins with no heat, a door that kills the fuse, a roaring vent fan or keys that stopped responding are typical.
- Freezers: Upright and chest freezers, Garage Ready models and freezer columns. Start relays, defrost parts, thermostats, fans and door gaskets account for most repairs.
- Cooktops: Built-in cooktops in gas, smoothtop radiant and induction versions. Constant clicking, a zone stuck on high, a dead induction ring or a cracked top are what bring us out.
- Stoves: Basic freestanding stoves with gas burners, exposed coils or a glass top. Slow ovens, coils that only work when jiggled, and burners that won't catch are the everyday complaints.
- Ranges: Gallery and Professional ranges, including front-control slide-ins and models with air fry. We replace touch panels, temperature probes, fan motors, gas igniters and induction boards.
Parts for Frigidaire
With so many Frigidaire appliances in service, most parts are stocked widely and ship quickly. Igniters, valves, elements, defrost components and pumps are routine. Older Gallery control boards, some ice maker and dispenser parts, and parts for discontinued models can be harder to find or replaced by newer kits. We confirm availability by your model number before giving a price and point out any part that's an equivalent rather than a Frigidaire original.
Common Frigidaire Questions
Brief answers to what customers most often ask us. Don't see yours? Ask when you call, or add it to the notes when you book online.
Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
It depends on what failed. A thermal fuse, igniter, valve or defrost part is usually worth fixing on a unit in decent shape. Once an old refrigerator needs a compressor, or a tired washer needs its gearcase, the math usually tips toward buying new. You get the quote and our straight opinion.
On refrigerators it's usually on a label inside the fresh-food section on a side wall or ceiling. On washers and dryers, check under the lid or inside the door frame. On ranges, look inside the storage drawer or behind the oven door. A photo of the tag is the easiest way to send it.
You can, but check your lease first. Many landlords and property managers handle appliance repairs and may have someone they use. If they ask you to arrange it, we'll need their approval before starting any work.
