Frigidaire Refrigerator Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords

How a Refrigerator Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
How Frigidaire designs its refrigerators
Frigidaire refrigerators span simple top-freezers to Gallery and Professional French-doors, and the failures follow the design. Top-freezers and bottom-freezers mostly lose cooling through a failed defrost heater, a stopped evaporator fan or a condenser clogged with pet hair and dust. Side-by-sides with the ice maker in the freezer door often jam when cubes clump, especially if the door isn't closing tightly. French-door models with the ice maker on the fresh-food door have the frost problems that come with that layout. A water valve that no longer shuts off fully can overfill the ice maker. We start with the condenser, fans and defrost system, which explain most warm refrigerators, then look at the ice system.
Common failure points on Frigidaire refrigerators
- Condenser coils matted with dust
- Defrost heater failed open
- Door ice maker jammed with clumped cubes
- Water valve not shutting fully
- Evaporator fan stalled
Faults shared by every make are explained on the main refrigerator repair page.

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
On most Frigidaire models the fresh-food section is cooled by air from the freezer. If frost blocks the evaporator or the fan stops, the freezer stays fairly cold while the fridge warms up. It's usually a defrost or fan problem, not the compressor.
Yes, it helps. Unplug the refrigerator, remove the lower grille, and vacuum the coils with a brush attachment. On some models the coils are at the back. Clean coils help the compressor run less and can prevent a warm-refrigerator call.
