Viking Refrigerator Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords

How a Refrigerator Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
How Viking designs its refrigerators
The symptoms on a Viking built-in refrigerator usually come in a certain order. First the compressor seems to run all day. Then the fresh-food temperature climbs a few degrees, and eventually the door-ajar or temperature alarm starts going off. That pattern almost always begins at the condenser, which on most Viking built-ins sits behind a grille where it breathes kitchen air, including whatever the range hood misses. Cleaning it is step one. If temperatures still don't recover, the condenser fan and evaporator fan are checked for speed, and the evaporator is inspected for a solid frost pattern that means defrost has failed. Door closers on tall panel-ready doors weaken, and a door that doesn't pull itself shut quietly lets in warm air. Ice makers and water valves are the other frequent calls.
Common failure points on Viking refrigerators
- Compressor running nonstop on a dirty coil
- Temperature alarm from a stalled fan
- Solid frost on the evaporator
- Door closer no longer pulling shut
- Ice maker valve failing to open

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
Rarely at first. A coated condenser, a slow fan or a frozen evaporator is far more common. We clean the coil and check fan speeds and the frost pattern before looking at the sealed system.
Many are. Fans, water valves, gaskets and defrost parts usually have a current or equivalent part. Certain control boards and ice maker assemblies are gone, and we confirm that from the serial plate before quoting.
