Viking Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords
A Viking range weighs a few hundred pounds and is mostly steel and cast iron, so the body almost never is what gives out. The small parts do: spark switches, glow bars, fan motors, door hinges, a sensor here and there. That makes most Viking problems worth fixing. We work independently and hold no Viking authorization. If the unit is still inside Viking's coverage, start with Viking. Otherwise we look at it where it stands, explain what we found and quote the job for your approval.
How a Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.

Greenwood, Middleby and Composition Brands
Viking grew out of Greenwood, Mississippi, where Fred Carl Jr. set out in the 1980s to put a commercial-looking range into a home kitchen. Manufacturing is still tied to Greenwood. The Middleby Corporation acquired the company at the end of 2012.
Early in 2026, affiliates of the investment firm 26North closed on a controlling stake in Middleby's residential kitchen group and renamed it Composition Brands. Viking shares that roof with AGA, Rangemaster, La Cornue, Lynx and U-Line, and Middleby still holds a sizable minority stake.
Where Viking shows up around here
Viking usually comes in as part of a whole-kitchen project. Think of a 1960s colonial in Vienna or Fairfax whose kitchen was taken down to the studs, or a newer Ashburn house built with a pro-style package from the start. The range tends to arrive with a Viking hood, a built-in refrigerator and sometimes a wine unit under the island.
Where these homes cook on natural gas, most Viking cooking work involves spark ignition, oven glow bars and safety valves rather than electronics.
Named systems worth knowing
Viking gives its features trade names, and they map directly to parts. SureSpark is the burner ignition that relights a flame that blows out. VariSimmer is the low-output setting on the surface burners. TruConvec is the convection system with a rear element and fan. Gourmet-Glo is the infrared broil burner in many gas ovens. When a customer names one of these as the thing that quit, the search is already narrow.
The age of the range matters too. Older units lean on mechanical thermostats with capillary bulbs; later ones run electronic controls and oven sensors. We test the parts that match your model's generation.
Parts supply after the ownership changes
Wear items such as glow bars, electrodes, burner caps, knobs, hinges and gaskets are easy to source. Some electronic boards, particular valves and trim for older models take longer or have been discontinued, and parts numbering has shifted over the years. We look everything up from the model and serial plate before we quote, and we tell you if we are using an equivalent.
Viking products we see

- Ovens: Single and double wall ovens, gas or electric, many with TruConvec, plus range ovens. Glow bars, elements, convection motors, sensors and hinges.
- Microwaves: Microwave drawers and built-in or convection microwaves with trim kits. Drawer drives, interlock switches, magnetrons and touch controls.
- Freezers: Freezer drawers in bottom-mount built-ins and all-freezer columns. Defrost components, evaporator fans, drawer slides and ice makers.
- Cooktops: Gas rangetops and cooktops with sealed burners, griddles or char-grills, plus electric and induction cooktops. Spark switches, electrodes, valves and griddle thermostats.
- Wine Coolers: Undercounter wine and beverage centers and full-height wine columns. Ventilation, fans, zone sensors, gaskets and hinges.
- Stoves: Freestanding pro-style gas ranges, 30 to 60 inches wide, used every day. Burner ignition, caps and ports, oven glow bars, knobs and valve stems.

Parts for Viking
Viking parts reach us through the manufacturer's distribution and independent parts wholesalers. Glow bars, spark switches, electrodes, burner caps, hinges and gaskets are routine orders. Boards and some valves for older ranges and refrigerators can take a while or have no current replacement, and some numbers changed as ownership did. Every part is matched to the model and serial plate, and if the only option is an equivalent, you hear that before we order.
Common Viking Questions
Brief answers to what customers most often ask us. Don't see yours? Ask when you call, or add it to the notes when you book online.
Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
Composition Brands, the residential kitchen business that 26North affiliates took control of in February 2026. Middleby, which bought Viking at the end of 2012, keeps a minority share. None of that changes how the equipment is repaired.
Moisture has usually reached a spark switch behind one of the knobs, often after the cooktop was wiped down. Give it several hours to dry. Clicking that persists means a switch, electrode or spark module needs testing.
In most cases. Burners, grates and the cabinet hold up for decades, and igniters, valves, thermostats and hinges can be replaced. The case to watch is a discontinued electronic control, and we check that before quoting.
It's Viking's name for convection with a heating element around a rear fan. If convection bakes unevenly or runs cool while regular bake works, that element or fan motor is the likely cause.
