Your Privacy Rights

What TrueFix Virginia holds about you is, for the most part, what you gave us when you asked for a repair: your name, phone number and email, the address of the appliance, and the fault. This page explains what you can ask us to do with that information and how we respond.
Virginia's Consumer Data Protection Act gives Virginia residents a set of rights over their personal data when it is held by businesses the Act covers. We follow the same approach for every request we get, and we do so for anyone who has been in touch with us, including people who live outside Virginia.
What you can ask for
- Confirmation and access. Whether we process information about you, and if so, to see it.
- Correction. Fixing anything that is wrong, such as a phone number you no longer use, a misspelled name or an outdated service address.
- Deletion. Removing information you gave us or that we hold about you. Where tax, accounting or other legal duties require us to keep an invoice or a job record, our reply will name what stays and why.
- A portable copy. The information you provided, in a common electronic format you can open or move elsewhere.
- Opting out. Of the sale of personal data, of targeted advertising, and of profiling used to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. We do none of these today; see Do Not Sell or Share for details and for recording a standing opt-out.
- No more contact. Removal from our email and text lists. Replying STOP to one of our texts ends texts immediately without any further step.
Using any of these rights will not change the service you receive from us or the price you pay.
Making a request
Reach us by phone, email or mail at the details below and say which of the requests above you are making. We need a reasonable level of confidence that the request really comes from you before we release or change anything, so we normally compare it with the contact details already in our records. If someone else is asking for you, we will need your written authorization, and a parent or legal guardian may make a request on behalf of a child.
We reply within 45 days of receiving a request. If a request is complicated or we receive several at once, we may take up to 45 more days; in that case you will hear from us before the first 45 days are up, with the reason. We do not charge for requests.

Appealing our decision
If we decline some or all of a request, our reply will explain why and tell you how to appeal. To appeal, write back to us and say that you disagree. A different look is taken at the request, and within 60 days of receiving your appeal we send you a written answer that explains what we did or did not do.
If the appeal is turned down, you can take the matter to the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia, whose Consumer Protection Section accepts complaints through its consumer protection website. The Attorney General is the official responsible for enforcing Virginia's consumer data protection law.
