Hoshizaki Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords
Hoshizaki Corporation is a Japanese company that builds ice machines and foodservice refrigeration, and its US operation, Hoshizaki America, is based in Peachtree City, Georgia. We're not a Hoshizaki service agent. Equipment still within Hoshizaki's warranty should go through the manufacturer's channels first. Once that has lapsed, we visit the restaurant, bar or office, find the fault, explain it and give you a price to approve before any work begins.
How a Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.

Hoshizaki Products We Service
What Hoshizaki builds
The KM cubers grow a crescent-shaped cube on a vertical stainless evaporator, then release the batch with hot gas. Flakers and cubelet machines work differently, pushing ice up a refrigerated cylinder with an auger. On the refrigeration side, the Steelheart line covers reach-in refrigerators and freezers, with undercounters and prep tables alongside.
Many current Steelheart cabinets run on R290, a hydrocarbon refrigerant. It's flammable, so sealed-system work needs its own tools and procedure; fans, gaskets and controllers are unaffected.
Back rooms, bar wells and rooftop condensers
Hoshizaki equipment is common in restaurant kitchens, bars, cafes, hotels and office cafeterias across Northern Virginia, from strip-center places along the arterial roads to restaurants in mixed-use buildings. Cubers often end up in a warm storage room or sitting on a bin under a bar, where there's little room for air.
An air-cooled machine in a hot room loses output through a long, humid summer, and a dusty condenser makes it worse. Remote condensers on a roof deal with heat, leaves and storm debris.
Cleaning prevents most ice calls
When ice output drops, the usual cause is scale or biofilm in the water circuit, a spent filter, a dirty condenser or low water pressure rather than a failed part. The cubes get thin, cloudy or oddly shaped, and the bin fills slowly. Cleaning and sanitizing with Hoshizaki's specified chemicals on the recommended schedule, replacing filters on time, and giving the unit breathing room head off a large share of breakdowns.
Reach-ins behave the same way: a condenser coated with fryer grease forces the compressor to run nonstop and shortens its life.
Planning around service
Give us your hours when booking and we'll aim to fit the visit around service where the fault allows. When a clean and restart fixes the problem, it happens on the first visit. When a part has to be ordered, you'll hear the expected timing so you can arrange bagged ice or move product to other storage.
Hoshizaki products we see
- Refrigerators: Steelheart reach-ins, undercounters and prep tables, many on R290 refrigerant. Greasy condensers, stalled evaporator fans, torn gaskets, weak door closers and controller probe faults lead the list.
- Freezers: Steelheart reach-in and undercounter freezers. Defrost heater failures, frozen drain lines, door frame heaters, evaporator fans and controller settings account for most calls.
- Ice Makers: KM crescent cubers, flakers and cubelet machines, air-cooled, water-cooled or with a remote condenser. Scale, float switches, water pumps, thermistors, hot gas valves and flaker gear motors are routine work.
Parts for Hoshizaki
Hoshizaki parts move through the company's distributors and the commercial parts houses that stock foodservice equipment, and orders go by model and serial number. Float switches, water pumps, thermistors, inlet valves, bin controls and flaker gear motors are everyday items. We check stock and timing while we're on site, and if a compatible part will get you running sooner, we explain the trade-off.
Common Hoshizaki Questions
Brief answers to what customers most often ask us. Don't see yours? Ask when you call, or add it to the notes when you book online.
Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
The control board sounds a pattern of beeps and lights for each alarm. One beep generally means the evaporator got too hot; two beeps mean harvest ran past its backup timer. We read the alarm and test the parts behind it.
Yes. They use an auger, gear motor, bearings and an extruding head instead of a cube evaporator, and we service those along with the water system and controls.
Follow the schedule in Hoshizaki's manual, and shorten it if scale or slime shows up early. Water quality, heat and yeast in the air near a bakery or brewery all change how fast buildup returns.
