Viking Microwave Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords
We are independent and have no tie to Viking. If the microwave is still inside its Viking warranty, the manufacturer should be your first call. Once that coverage has ended, include the model number and the symptom in your booking so parts can be looked up ahead of the visit.
How a Microwave Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
How Viking designs its microwaves
Viking microwaves are almost always built in: a drawer under the counter or a microwave or convection microwave in the wall with a trim kit. The drawer models open and close on a motor, so a drawer that stops short, reverses or won't budge is usually a drive problem, stripped gears, or a utensil jammed in the track behind it. Interlock switches are the other frequent failure, since they have to confirm the drawer or door is shut before the magnetron runs. A unit that lights and turns but doesn't heat moves the search to the high-voltage side: magnetron, diode and capacitor. That capacitor can hold a harmful charge after the power is off, so it's discharged before testing. Built-in trim makes repair more practical than a like-for-like replacement.
Common failure points on Viking microwaves
- Drawer drive stopping short
- Stripped gear in the drawer mechanism
- Interlock switch not confirming closed
- Magnetron not producing heat
- Touch panel dead after steam exposure

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
The drawer senses resistance and backs off. Something caught in the track, worn gears or a failing drive motor are the usual causes, and each can be checked.
The high-voltage side isn't working. A door switch, the diode, capacitor or magnetron is at fault. The capacitor is discharged, then each is tested.
