GE Appliances Microwave Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords
We are independent and have no tie to GE Appliances. If the microwave is still inside its GE Appliances warranty, the manufacturer should be your first call. Once that coverage has ended, include the model number and the symptom in your booking so parts can be looked up ahead of the visit.
How a Microwave Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
How GE Appliances designs its microwaves
Most GE microwaves we see are over-the-range models above a range in a townhouse or condo kitchen, plus Advantium speed ovens that pair microwave power with halogen heating lamps. Common repairs are door interlock switches, which also blow the main fuse when they fail, turntable motors, and vent fans or lights on the underside. The high-voltage parts, including the magnetron, capacitor and diode, can fail too, and on an older standard microwave that repair may not be worth doing. Advantium repairs cover the lamps, the microwave side and the control. Getting an over-the-range unit off its wall plate takes two people, and we factor that into the job.
Common failure points on GE Appliances microwaves
- Door interlock switch blowing the fuse
- Vent fan motor rattling
- Turntable motor not rotating
- Advantium halogen lamp burned out
- Magnetron failed, no heating
Faults shared by every make are explained on the main microwave repair page.

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
Often it is, especially when it's built into cabinetry and a replacement would need to fit the same opening. Lamps, switches and fans are reasonable repairs. We'll tell you if a failed control or discontinued part changes that.
The vent fan and light run on a separate circuit from cooking. No heat points to the door switches, the high-voltage parts or the control. We test the switches first, since those are common and inexpensive.
