How a Microwave Repair Visit Works

Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
How Dacor designs its microwaves
Most Dacor microwaves we see are under-counter drawers or speed ovens in a wall-oven stack. A drawer unit is driven open and shut by a small motor, and a drawer that won't open usually has a failed motor, a worn gear or debris jammed in the track. Speed ovens combine a microwave with a convection element, so it matters which mode fails: no microwave heat sends us to the magnetron, diode, capacitor or a door interlock, while no convection heat points to the element or fan. Interlock switches wear and can blow a fuse. Because the capacitor keeps its charge after unplugging, it's bled down before anything on the high-voltage side is touched.
Common failure points on Dacor microwaves
- Drawer motor not opening the drawer
- Magnetron failed, no heat
- Door interlock switch broken
- Speed oven convection element open
- Debris jamming the drawer track

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
First look for a utensil or crumbs in the track. With the track clear, the drive motor, gears and position switches get tested.
The microwave side, meaning the magnetron, diode, capacitor or an interlock. The convection side is separate. We discharge the capacitor and test each part.
