Samsung Refrigerator Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords

How a Refrigerator Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
How Samsung designs its refrigerators
On a Samsung refrigerator, the trouble is usually moisture ending up where it freezes. French-door models make ice in a compartment on the left fresh-food door, fed with freezer air through a duct in the cabinet wall. If that compartment's seal or the duct lets humid kitchen air in, frost grows, the ice maker jams and meltwater can drip out onto the floor. Twin Cooling Plus models add a separate fresh-food evaporator and fan, and ice building on those fan blades causes a scraping or buzzing noise. A tech works backward from the symptom to the defrost heater, sensor or drain that failed to clear frost, because thawing the ice alone buys only a few weeks. Humid summers make any weak seal show up faster.
Common failure points on Samsung refrigerators
- Frost sealing the door ice compartment
- Ice maker stalled on a frozen chute
- Fresh-food fan scraping ice
- Defrost sensor or heater open
- Water line valve seeping behind the unit

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
Something is letting damp air into the ice compartment or keeping frost from melting away. A worn compartment gasket, a gap around the duct, or a defrost fault are the usual suspects. Chipping the block out works for a while, but the leak or defrost problem has to be fixed for the bin to stay clear.
Opening the door stops the evaporator fans, so a noise that quits at that moment usually comes from a fan blade hitting frost. The fan itself is often fine. We find out why ice formed around it, which usually points to a defrost heater, sensor or drain problem.
