The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
How Frigidaire designs its cooktops
A Frigidaire cooktop can be any of three technologies. On gas versions each knob has a spark switch wired to one module, and a pot that boils over can wet a switch and start endless clicking A burner that won't catch at all is more often a grimy igniter tip or a cap knocked askew during cleaning. Radiant cooktops use elements controlled by infinite switches, and a switch that fails can leave an element stuck on high or dead. Induction models rely on power boards and cooling fans, and they switch off if a pan isn't compatible or the electronics overheat. Cracked glass needs to be replaced as a whole. We check the easy causes before replacing boards or modules.
Common failure points on Frigidaire cooktops
- Spark switch soaked, constant clicking
- Infinite switch stuck on high
- Radiant element open
- Induction zone not detecting the pan
- Glass cracked from a dropped pot

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
The infinite switch that controls that element has probably failed. It should cycle the element on and off to set the heat level. We test the switch and element and replace the faulty part.
The pan may not be magnetic enough or may be too small for the zone. Test with a magnet: if it sticks firmly, the pan should work. If a suitable pan still isn't detected, we check the coil and board.
