How a Cooktop Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
Inside an Admiral cooktop
The cooktop on an Admiral range is coils, a glass smoothtop, or open gas burners. Coil burners fail at the receptacle, where loose contact causes arcing and burned terminals, and fitting only a new element will damage it quickly. Each coil is governed by its own infinite switch, and those can weld on at full heat or go dead. Under glass, radiant elements can fail or lose their limiter. Gas burners share a spark module; food or water under a knob can keep every igniter clicking. Dirty ports make weak, uneven flames. Cleaning and drying come first, then we replace just the switch, receptacle or element that failed.
Common failure points on Admiral cooktops
- Receptacle terminals burned
- Infinite switch not cycling
- Glass element limiter failed
- Every igniter clicking at once
- Burner ports blocked with grease

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
Yes, stop using it. Sparking usually means a burned receptacle or damaged element terminal. We replace the receptacle and element together so the new part isn't damaged.
An infinite switch that has welded its contacts is the likely cause. The switch should cycle the element on and off. Replacing the switch restores control.
