AGA Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords
An AGA is unusual in any American kitchen. The classic cast-iron cooker keeps its ovens at fixed temperatures and cooks by stored heat, while AGA's Elise and Mercury ranges work like conventional multi-oven ranges with a distinctive look. We repair both kinds independently and have no link to AGA or its dealers. If yours is under the maker's warranty, contact AGA first. Otherwise we look at it in your kitchen, explain what failed and quote the repair before starting.
How a Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.

AGA Products We Service
Heat storage versus a conventional range
The AGA cooker was invented in the 1920s by the Swedish physicist Gustaf Dalén and has been made in England for most of its history. A single heat source warms a heavy cast-iron body, and each oven sits at its own temperature: roasting, baking, simmering. Two hotplates under insulated lids handle boiling and simmering.
Older AGAs ran continuously on gas or oil. Newer electric models such as the Total Control and eR3 let owners switch ovens and hotplates on and off. The Elise and Mercury ranges, by contrast, have ordinary burners or induction zones and thermostatically controlled ovens.
Who owns AGA today
AGA Rangemaster Group was bought by the American food equipment company Middleby in 2015. In North America the brand is handled by AGA Marvel, a Middleby unit that also makes Marvel refrigeration.
Cooling down before a repair
A cast-iron AGA holds a great deal of heat, and a cold start takes hours. Most internal work needs the cooker off and cooled, so we plan the visit with you: when to turn it off, how long to wait, and how long it will take to come back up to temperature.
On gas models we also check the burner, flue and draft, because a cooker that burns cleanly is safer and holds temperature better. If you ever smell gas or see soot near the flue, turn it off and call your gas utility.
Parts from overseas
Many AGA parts ship from the UK, including elements, thermostats, lids and burner components for the cast-iron cookers. Elise and Mercury ranges have their own parts list. We match parts to the model and serial number, check availability during the diagnosis, and warn you ahead of time if only a non-AGA equivalent exists.
AGA products we see
- Ovens: Cast-iron roasting, baking and simmering ovens on heat-storage AGAs, plus the electric and fan ovens on Elise and Mercury ranges. Elements, thermostats and door hinges come up most.
- Cooktops: Boiling and simmering hotplates under insulated lids on cast-iron AGAs, and gas burners or induction zones on AGA ranges. Hotplate elements, lid linings and ignition parts wear.
- Stoves: The classic AGA heat-storage cooker in gas, older oil-fired and electric versions, including Total Control and eR3 models. Burners, elements, thermostats and flue draft are key.
- Ranges: AGA Elise ranges in dual fuel and induction, and the Mercury multi-oven range. Fan oven elements, convection motors, spark ignition, oven thermostats and doors are the usual repairs.
Parts for AGA
Many parts for cast-iron AGA cookers come from the UK and can take time to arrive. Common elements, thermostats and ignition parts for Elise and Mercury ranges are usually easier to get through AGA Marvel and parts distributors. We identify parts from the model and serial number, confirm availability before quoting, and tell you when a part would be an equivalent.

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
Traditional AGAs are heat-storage cookers designed to run constantly. Newer models like the Total Control and eR3 can be switched on and off. We can tell you which you have from the model plate.
Usually several hours, and a full cooldown can take most of a day. We'll tell you when to switch it off so it's ready when we arrive.
Yes. They are conventional ranges with ovens, burners or induction zones and controls, so the diagnosis runs the way it does on other high-end ranges.
Often, yes. The cast-iron body lasts, and parts like burners, thermostats and hotplate elements can be replaced. Very old or converted units may need special parts, and we'll tell you what's available.
