AGA Oven Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords

How an Oven Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
How AGA designs its ovens
In a heat-storage AGA, the ovens are cast-iron boxes that take heat from the body of the cooker, so their temperatures rise and fall together. If every oven is cooler than usual, the heat source is the likely culprit: a burner, element or thermostat. If only one oven is off, look at that oven's own element on electric models like the Total Control. Door hinges and catches wear with decades of use. On Elise and Mercury ranges, ovens work like conventional electric fan ovens, with elements, convection motors and thermostats. We measure oven temperatures, test elements and thermostats, and check the heat source before recommending anything.
Common failure points on AGA ovens
- All ovens cooler than normal
- Single oven element failed
- Thermostat out of calibration
- Door catch or hinge worn
- Fan oven motor noisy on range

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
On models with separate oven controls, a single failed element or its thermostat is the likely cause. We test that oven's parts on their own.
On traditional models the ovens run at fixed temperatures set by the heat source. The overall heat can sometimes be set a little higher or lower, but individual ovens are not adjustable like a conventional oven.
