La Cornue Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords
A La Cornue is usually the most expensive and least replaceable thing in the kitchen, and it deserves careful work. Our business has no connection to La Cornue or its American distributor, and we are not an authorized service center. A range still under La Cornue's warranty should go through La Cornue first. After that, we diagnose it in place, explain what we found, and wait for your approval of the price before starting.
How a Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.

La Cornue Products We Service
A Paris perfumer's oven
Albert Dupuy, a Parisian herbalist and perfumer, founded La Cornue in 1908. The brand's signature is the vaulted oven, whose curved ceiling rolls heat around the food. AGA bought the company in 2004, Middleby acquired AGA Rangemaster in 2015, and since early 2026 the brand has belonged to Composition Brands, the company 26North affiliates formed when they took control of Middleby's home appliance business.
Château ranges are still built largely by hand in Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône, near Paris, to each buyer's order of size, color and trim. The CornuFé line is designed in France and built in England in standard sizes; the CornuFé 110 pairs gas burners with two electric convection ovens behind side-swing doors.
Two ranges that repair differently
A Château may have gas or electric ovens, a French top, a simmer plate or a griddle, and each configuration is close to unique. Parts often come from France, and matching them requires the exact model and serial. CornuFé ranges are more standardized, closer to a pro-style range in how they're built, and their parts are simpler to identify.
What they share is flame safety. Most La Cornue gas burners use a thermocouple that keeps the gas valve open only while it senses flame. It explains the pause of several seconds with the knob pressed in at lighting, and why a tired thermocouple lets the flame die the instant the knob comes back out.
Access, weight and planning
A Château weighs far more than a standard range and usually stands beneath a made-to-measure hood, framed by stone or tile. Moving one takes several people and careful floor protection. In the Northern Virginia houses where these ranges tend to be, often a remodeled older home or a newer custom build, most repairs are done from the front with the range in place, and anything needing rear access is scheduled on its own.

Parts for La Cornue
Parts reach the US through La Cornue's own importer, and a good share are shipped from Europe. Thermocouples, igniters, knobs, thermostats and door gaskets are the usual orders; trim or components unique to a custom Château can take several weeks. Every order is keyed to the model and serial plate, and you get a realistic lead time before you say yes.

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
La Cornue belongs to Composition Brands, the residential kitchen business controlled by 26North affiliates with Middleby as a minority owner. Châteaux are still hand-assembled in France, while CornuFé models are designed there and built in England.
The burner has a thermocouple that must heat up before it holds the gas valve open on its own. Holding the knob keeps gas flowing until then. When the flame won't stay once the knob is released, suspect a worn, dirty or misplaced thermocouple.
Almost always, especially a Château, which is built to order and takes a long time to replace. Even with a wait for parts, a repair disturbs the kitchen far less than ordering and installing a new range.
