How a Dishwasher Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
How Smeg designs its dishwashers
Smeg dishwashers are European built-ins, and most problems start with water. The filter set in the sump is a lift-out, rinse-under-the-tap design, and a matted one leaves film on glasses and standing water after the drain. An anti-flood system shuts the dishwasher down when water reaches the base, often because of a leaking hose, seal or door gasket, or too much detergent. Drain pumps and inlet valves can fail. Heating elements warm the water, and a failed element leaves dishes wet and not fully clean. Fully integrated models carry a custom panel, and worn hinge springs let the door drop. We start with the filter and the base, then test the pump, valves and heater.
Common failure points on Smeg dishwashers
- Filter clogged, water left in the tub
- Anti-flood shutdown from a base leak
- Drain pump failing
- Heating element not warming water
- Hinge spring worn under panel weight

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
Yes. If water gets into the base, a float triggers the anti-flood system and stops the cycle. We find the leak, dry the base and reset the system.
European dishwashers often rely on residual heat to dry, so some moisture is normal, especially on plastics. If dishes are also poorly cleaned, the heating element or its sensor may have failed. We test both.
