Ice-O-Matic Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords
Ice-O-Matic has made commercial ice machines in Denver since the company started as Mile High Equipment in 1952, and it's now part of Italy's Ali Group. Its machines are common in bars, restaurants, coffee shops, hotels and healthcare kitchens. We're an independent repair company, not an authorized Ice-O-Matic service agent, and a machine still under the manufacturer's warranty should be handled through Ice-O-Matic first. For machines out of coverage, we come to your site, find what's actually wrong, and quote the repair before any work starts.
How a Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.

Ice-O-Matic Products We Service
Cubers versus Pearl Ice and flake
Ice-O-Matic builds two very different kinds of machine. Cubers freeze water in a grid on a vertical evaporator, then switch to a hot-gas harvest to drop the slab into the bin. Their faults center on water flow, scale, sensors and harvest timing. GEM series Pearl Ice machines and flakers freeze water inside a cylinder and push it out with an auger driven by a gear motor, so their faults involve bearings, the auger, the gear motor and the water reservoir.
That split matters because the symptoms can look alike. Little or no ice might be a scaled cuber evaporator or a worn auger bearing, and the fix couldn't be more different.
Where ice machines struggle
Ice machines are sensitive to where they're installed. An air-cooled head squeezed into a hot back room, stacked on a bin near a fryer, or tucked under a bar with no clearance will make less ice and wear out sooner. Northern Virginia's long, humid summers add to the load: warmer rooms and warmer incoming water both slow production right when bars and patios need the most ice.
Water is the other factor. Mineral scale builds up over time in every machine, and a water filter that's past its change date lets it build faster. We check both the room and the water before blaming a component.
Cleaning, sanitizing and the service visit
Many Ice-O-Matic service calls are really cleaning calls. Scale on the evaporator slows harvest, slime in the water system causes odors and sensor errors, and a dirty condenser raises head pressure. Ice-O-Matic's manuals set a cleaning and sanitizing schedule, and following it prevents a lot of breakdowns.
When we come out, we clean what's needed to see the real fault, test the sensors and valves, and tell you whether the machine needs a part, a thorough cleaning or both.
Ice-O-Matic products we see
- Ice Makers: Ice-O-Matic modular and undercounter cube machines, GEM Pearl Ice nugget machines and flake machines, air-cooled, water-cooled and remote. We work on water pumps, inlet valves, water level and ice thickness sensors, harvest valves, gear motors, augers, bearings and condenser fans.
Parts for Ice-O-Matic
Ice-O-Matic parts are sold through its distributor network and commercial parts suppliers. Water pumps, inlet valves, sensors, harvest valves and gear motors are routine orders, while controllers and some sealed-system parts take longer. We match parts to the model and serial number, use Ice-O-Matic parts where available and tell you when an equivalent is used.

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
Ice-O-Matic is part of Ali Group, an Italy-based food service equipment company. The machines are still built in Denver, where the company started in 1952.
Pearl Ice is Ice-O-Matic's name for the soft, chewable nugget ice made by its GEM series machines. It's made with an auger system rather than on a cube evaporator, so its service needs are different.
Yes. Water-cooled machines add a water regulating valve and condenser that scale up, and remote systems add a condenser on the roof or an outside wall with its own fan. We check those parts along with the ice-making head.
