Ice-O-Matic Ice Maker Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords
We are independent and have no tie to Ice-O-Matic. If the ice maker is still inside its Ice-O-Matic warranty, the manufacturer should be your first call. Once that coverage has ended, include the model number and the symptom in your booking so parts can be looked up ahead of the visit.
How an Ice Maker Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
How Ice-O-Matic designs its ice makers
Most Ice-O-Matic cubers work in a loop: water is pumped over a vertical evaporator, a probe senses when the ice has reached the right thickness, and a hot-gas valve warms the plate so the slab drops. When that loop breaks, the symptom tells a lot. Thin or irregular cubes point to low water or a scaled evaporator. A machine stuck in freeze may have a dirty thickness probe. Ice that won't release suggests scale or a harvest valve fault. GEM Pearl Ice and flake machines fail differently, with worn auger bearings, gear motor noise or a reservoir float problem. We clean and test before replacing sensors, pumps or valves.
Common failure points on Ice-O-Matic ice makers
- Ice thickness probe coated with scale
- Water pump weak or clogged
- Harvest valve not opening
- GEM auger bearing worn and noisy
- Water-cooled condenser scaled

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
Usually not enough water is reaching the evaporator, or scale is interfering with the thickness probe. A clogged inlet screen, a weak pump or an overdue water filter are common causes. We clean and test before replacing anything.
Yes. Grinding usually means worn auger bearings or a gear motor problem, and running it can damage the evaporator. We inspect the bearings, the auger and the gear motor.
Follow the schedule in the manual, and clean more often in hot kitchens or with hard water. Regular cleaning prevents scale-related harvest problems and keeps the ice safe.
