Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
How Vulcan designs its stoves
Open burners on Endurance and V Series ranges usually light from standing pilots that burn all shift. Once a pilot is out, turning the valve releases gas with nothing to light it; if that happens, shut the valve, ventilate the kitchen and don't try to relight until the smell has cleared. Carbon and grease clog burner ports and pilot orifices, causing weak or uneven flames. A misadjusted air shutter makes the flame yellow or lifting. Burners and grates take a beating in daily use. We clean and adjust pilots and burners, check the gas pressure and air mix, and replace worn burners if needed.
Common failure points on Vulcan stoves
- Standing pilot out
- Burner not lighting from its pilot
- Flame weak and yellow
- Ports clogged with carbon
- Air shutter out of adjustment

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
It usually means the air mix is off or the burner is dirty, which wastes gas and can produce soot. We clean the burner and adjust the air shutter so the flame burns properly.
Many operators do, following the instructions on the unit. If a pilot keeps going out or won't stay lit, have it checked, since that points to a clogged orifice or draft problem.
