Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
How Thor Kitchen designs its stoves
Most of what goes wrong on top of a Thor range happens after cleaning or a spill. Pasta water that foams over runs straight down the burner base; degreaser left in the ports hardens; a brass or enameled cap goes back a few degrees off and the flame climbs out one side. The igniter then snaps at a gap with no gas in it. A lazy, tall or yellow-tipped flame on the big burner almost always means the ports or the air shutter are restricted. Ceramic igniters crack when a grate is dropped, and knobs wobble once their D-shaped socket wears. Our first step is always a teardown and cleaning of the burner in question, then a spark and flame test.

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
It usually means the burner isn't mixing air properly because of clogged ports or a misaligned cap. Stop using that burner and have it cleaned and checked.
Yes. Avoid soaking the igniter, let the base air-dry, and seat each cap by feel so it doesn't rock before lighting.
