U-Line Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords
U-Line units are small, built in and easy to forget about, until the drinks in the basement bar come out warm or the ice bin fills with water. We repair them as an independent company with no U-Line service agreement. If the unit is still under U-Line's warranty, claim it through the maker first. Otherwise we diagnose it where it's installed, usually without pulling it from the cabinet, and quote the repair before any work.
How a Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.

U-Line Products We Service
Milwaukee roots and today's owner
U-Line started in Milwaukee in 1962 and made its name with compact built-in refrigeration and ice machines; it says it was the first North American maker of a residential wine refrigerator. Middleby bought the company in 2014.
Since February 2026, U-Line has been part of Composition Brands, the company formed when affiliates of 26North took control of Middleby's residential group. Viking, AGA and La Cornue sit in the same portfolio. Newer U-Line models carry Class names such as 1 Class and 5 Class; older units often carry series numbers like 2000 or 3000.
Bars, islands and patios
In Northern Virginia houses, U-Line units tend to live in finished basements under a wet bar, in kitchen islands, in home theaters and in outdoor kitchens on decks and patios. Basements here stay cool and can run damp in summer, and outdoor units see both August heat and January cold.
Each model's manual lists the room temperatures it's designed for, and outdoor-rated models have their own guidance for winter. A hard freeze does the most damage to ice machines and their water lines, so after a cold snap we check for split lines and frozen valves before blaming anything electrical.
Where small units go wrong
An undercounter unit breathes through its front grille, and anything that blocks it makes the compressor work harder while the cabinet warms. After airflow, the common repairs are fans, temperature sensors, controls, door and drawer gaskets, and hinges on doors that get opened constantly.
Clear-ice machines are their own category. They freeze water in thin layers on a chilled evaporator plate, which leaves the minerals behind in the water that drains away. Scale, drain trouble and water supply problems account for most of their calls.
U-Line products we see
- Refrigerators: Undercounter refrigerators, refrigerator drawers, beverage centers and outdoor-rated models. Grille airflow, condenser fans, sensors, gaskets and hinges on panel-ready doors.
- Ice Makers: Clear-ice machines such as the CLR1215 and CLR2160, with gravity drains or drain pumps, including outdoor models. Scale, drain pumps, water valves and frozen lines.
- Wine Coolers: Wine Captain and single- or dual-zone wine refrigerators under the counter. Zone sensors, fans, glass door seals and condensation.
Parts for U-Line
The brand still supports its line, and appliance parts distributors carry much of the catalog. Condenser and evaporator fans, sensors, gaskets, hinges, drain pumps and water valves are normally orderable from the model and serial. Control boards for older series are the hard part to find. We identify the part at the visit and give you an arrival estimate.

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
U-Line was bought by Middleby in 2014 and has been part of Composition Brands since February 2026. The brand name, parts supply and support all carried on through those changes.
Look at the front grille at the bottom and clear any dust or objects blocking it. If airflow is fine, the fan, sensor or door gasket is the next thing to test.
That depends on your model's manual, which lists its temperature range and cold-weather steps. Clear-ice machines and other plumbed units are the ones a freeze can crack, so they usually need to be drained and shut down before one.
