Perlick Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords

Perlick was founded in Milwaukee in 1917 and is still based there. It's best known for commercial bar and beer-dispensing equipment, and its residential line brings that same stainless build to undercounter refrigerators, drawers, wine units and ice makers. We are not part of Perlick's service network. If your unit is still covered by Perlick, call them first. Otherwise, we'll diagnose it where it's installed, show you what failed and quote the repair. Most Perlick parts that wear out, such as fans, gaskets, hinges, sensors and water valves, can be replaced individually, and the stainless cabinets tend to last.

Stacked & closet laundry
Townhouses and condos often put a stacked washer-dryer in an upstairs closet, so a small drip can end up staining the room underneath. Tell us where the machines sit.
Condo & high-rise rules
Many managed buildings ask for a certificate of insurance, a reserved freight elevator or set work hours. Check with yours and pass the rules along when you book.
Parking & access
Visitor spaces, garage clearance, gate codes and front-desk sign-in all shape a visit. Mention them at booking so nothing holds up the diagnosis.
Rentals & landlords
A tenant can book the visit. We report the fault and the price to the owner or property manager, who signs off before any work starts.
Garages, heat & humidity
A garage fridge or freezer can struggle through a hot, humid summer or a hard cold snap without any part failing. Check the temperature range in its manual.
Straight answers
When an older appliance isn't worth repairing, we say so and explain exactly which part failed.

How a Repair Visit Works

01

Tell Us What's Wrong

Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.

02

Diagnosis at Your Home

The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.

03

A Price Before Work

We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.

04

Repair and Check

The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.

Built like bar equipment

The residential line borrows heavily from Perlick's commercial background: stainless interiors on Signature Series models, front-venting condensers so the unit can sit flush under a counter, and heavy doors on robust hinges. That design means ventilation happens at the toe grille, and anything that blocks it will make the unit run warm.

Perlick also offers an ADA-height series and outdoor-rated versions of many models. The outdoor units are sealed and wired for exposure, but they still have to cope with summer heat and direct sun, and their condensers collect pollen and grit.

Home bars, basements and patios

Around Northern Virginia, Perlick units tend to appear in finished basements with a wet bar, in kitchen islands in larger renovated homes, and in outdoor kitchens on decks and patios. A basement bar is often a long way from the main panel and water shutoff, so we locate both before starting.

Outdoor units deal with humid summers and freezing nights. Ice makers left running outside through a cold snap can freeze their water lines. Perlick's manual covers winterizing; if you haven't done it, we can check the unit in spring before you start it up.

Deciding on a Perlick repair

Perlick units are built into custom cabinetry and often matched to a panel or a run of other appliances, so replacing one means more than buying a new box. For most faults, like a fan, a sensor, a hinge, a gasket or a water valve, repair is clearly the better option. A sealed-system failure on an older unit is more of a judgment call, and we'll lay out both sides.

Perlick products we see

  • Refrigerators: Undercounter refrigerators, refrigerator-freezers, freezer units, drawers and beverage centers in 15- and 24-inch widths, indoors and out. We handle warm cabinets, noisy fans, sensor faults, frost and door or drawer seal problems.
  • Ice Makers: Perlick's 15-inch clear ice makers and cubelet ice makers, including outdoor versions. Typical calls: no ice, cloudy or small cubes, water leaks, a drain pump that won't clear, and scale buildup.
  • Wine Coolers: Single- and dual-zone wine reserves and beverage centers. We check sensors, fans, controls, door seals, lights and the sealed system when a zone drifts from its setting.

Parts for Perlick

Perlick supplies residential parts through its own channels and some appliance parts distributors, and keeps parts available for many older models. Door gaskets, hinges, fans, water valves and sensors can usually be found by model and serial number. Sealed-system components, control boards and some model-specific trim take longer. We read the serial plate at the first visit, order by that number, give you an honest idea of the wait, and flag any substitute part before it goes in.

FAQ

Common Perlick Questions

Brief answers to what customers most often ask us. Don't see yours? Ask when you call, or add it to the notes when you book online.

Still have a question?

Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.

Both. Perlick started with commercial bar and beverage equipment and still makes it, but it also sells a full residential line of undercounter refrigerators, wine reserves, drawers and ice makers. We work on the residential units.

Not safely. Perlick's outdoor-rated models are built with weather-resistant parts and electrical protection for outdoor use. An indoor unit used outdoors may fail early and can create an electrical hazard.

Perlick undercounter units breathe through the front grille at the bottom. If that grille is blocked by a rug, trim or stored items, or the condenser behind it is dusty, the unit can't shed heat. We check airflow before anything else.

Follow the winterizing section of your Perlick manual, especially for ice makers with water lines. Water left in the lines can freeze and crack fittings or the valve during a cold snap.
