Turbo Air Freezer Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords

How a Freezer Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
How Turbo Air designs its freezers
Turbo Air freezers depend on a defrost cycle to melt ice off the evaporator, and most of their serious failures begin there. If the heater, the defrost probe or the controller stops doing its part, frost thickens into a solid block behind the evaporator cover, the fan starves, and the box creeps upward even though the compressor never rests. Every door opening during service adds moist kitchen air, so a split gasket or a door left ajar makes the icing come on faster. Around the door opening runs a low-wattage heater wire; when it opens, the gasket freezes to the frame and the metal sweats. We clear the ice, test each defrost part, and then check the condenser and fans.
Common failure points on Turbo Air freezers
- Evaporator frozen solid
- Defrost heater or sensor failed
- Door frame heater out
- Gasket torn
- Evaporator fan iced in

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
A heater wire hidden in the door frame should keep that surface above the dew point. When it burns out, condensation forms and the gasket freezes on. We check it with a meter and replace it.
Usually the defrost system has failed, or humid air is getting in through a damaged gasket. We test the defrost parts and check the seal.
