Everest Freezer Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords

How a Freezer Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
How Everest designs its freezers
Everest freezers depend on heat as much as cold. Several times a day the controller shuts the compressor off and energizes a defrost heater on the evaporator; the meltwater runs out through a drain line that has its own heater so it doesn't refreeze on the way. When the defrost heater or its termination sensor fails, ice creeps across the coil until airflow through it stops and the upper shelves warm first. When the drain heater fails, water refreezes in the line and backs up into the cabinet as a sheet of ice on the floor of the box. Perimeter heaters around the door opening keep the gasket from sticking; a failed one tears gaskets. We look at where the ice sits, which usually tells us which heater quit.
Common failure points on Everest freezers
- Defrost heater open, coil encased in ice
- Drain line frozen, ice on the cabinet floor
- Termination sensor ending defrost early
- Perimeter heater out, door sticking
- Fan blade frozen in place

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
Usually from the defrost drain. Meltwater should leave through a heated line, and if that heater fails the water refreezes in the line and backs up into the cabinet. We clear the ice, test the drain heater and check that defrost itself is working.
It can get you through a service. Empty the cabinet into another freezer and let it thaw with the door open. Don't use sharp tools on the coil, since a punctured coil means a refrigerant repair. The ice will be back within days unless the failed heater or sensor is replaced.
