Sub-Zero Freezer Repair for Owners, Renters and Landlords
We are independent and have no tie to Sub-Zero. If the freezer is still inside its Sub-Zero warranty, the manufacturer should be your first call. Once that coverage has ended, include the model number and the symptom in your booking so parts can be looked up ahead of the visit.
How a Freezer Repair Visit Works
Tell Us What's Wrong
Name the make, add the model number if it is handy, and describe the symptom. A picture of the label inside the door lets us check parts.
Diagnosis at Your Home
The technician tests the appliance along with its power, water, drain, gas or vent connections until the fault is confirmed.
A Price Before Work
We name the failed part and give you the cost of fixing it. Work starts only after you agree.
Repair and Check
The part is installed and the appliance is run through a cycle so you can watch it working.
How Sub-Zero designs its freezers
On a Sub-Zero freezer column or freezer drawer, the telling sign is where the frost is. Heavy frost spread over the back panel or around the evaporator cover points to defrost: an open heater, a failed defrost thermostat or a control problem. Frost concentrated near the front, or on food closest to the drawer, points to a seal problem, usually a drawer that isn't closing square because the slides have worn under heavy loads. A freezer that's warm while the compressor runs often has an evaporator fan that has seized or iced up. If the compressor tries to start and clicks off, the start relay is tested. The ice maker lives in the freezer too, and a leaking fill line can leave a sheet of ice under the bin.
Common failure points on Sub-Zero freezers
- Evaporator buried in frost
- Drawer slides worn under heavy loads
- Evaporator fan seized
- Start relay clicking the compressor off
- Ice sheet under the bin from a fill leak

Still have a question?
Get in touch with the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number. Some things we can answer right away; others need a technician in front of the machine.
Usually a defrost failure. The heater or defrost thermostat has quit, so frost never melts off the evaporator. We confirm with a test and replace the failed part.
The slides that carry the drawer and baskets. Worn slides let the drawer tilt, so the gasket can't seal. Replacing them brings the drawer square again.
